Alison Smith supports stroke survivors to continue their recovery after formal NHS
therapy has ceased
Alison holds the Functional Rehabilitation & Exercise Training after Stroke (FRETS)
Qualification of the ARNI Institute (Action for Rehabilitation from Neurological
Injury -arni.uk.com). The ARNI Instituteis committed to teach stroke survivors
how to gain better action control. Its approach to stroke rehabilitation is dynamic,
innovative and linked directly to the most current stroke evidence base.
Alison works one to one and in small groups. In 2013 she set up a series of pilot
group sessions for stroke survivors using the ARNI approach in partnership with Different
Strokes Milton Keynes Group, Shenley Leisure Centre, Central and North West London
NHS Foundation Trust, and (ARNI). The research report on the pilot showed very positive
results for stroke survivors who were 2 to 10 years on from stroke. Click here for
